Lock A Quick Connect On A Sprayer

Quick-connect fittings help to eliminate leaks between the sprayer hose and faucet connection.

The sprayer hose on your kitchen faucet connects to a nipple fitting under the center of the faucet. Many manufacturers now use a quick-connect fitting instead of the standard coupling nut to attach the sprayer to the faucet. The quick connect makes a tighter seal between the faucet and the sprayer, which reduces the chance of leaks. Locking a quick connect on a sprayer to the faucet depends on the type of fitting you have on the sprayer.

Instructions

Without Locking Tab

1. Hold the end of the sprayer hose with your hand, just below the quick-connect fitting. Pull down the collar of the quick connect with your thumb and forefinger.

2. Insert the fitting over the ribbed nipple under the faucet. Push the fitting over the nipple until it stops.

3. Release the quick-connect collar and pull down firmly on the sprayer hose. The quick connect is now locked onto the faucet nipple.

With Locking Tabs

4. Pull out the locking tab on the side of the quick-connect fitting until it stops. The locking tab is like a flat c-clip that rides inside two notches in the end of the fitting.

5. Push the quick-connect fitting over the faucet nipple.

6. Press the locking tab with your finger until the top of the tab is flush with the side of the quick-connect fitting. The locking tab locks over the upper ridge on the faucet nipple.

Tips Warnings

Older faucets cannot use a quick-connect sprayer because they have threads instead of a nipple fitting under the faucet.
