Ge Stove Selfcleaning Instructions

General Electric (GE) makes a line of ranges for residential use which features an oven self-cleaning cycle. This cycle super-heats the oven compartment and reduces any food soil in the oven to a white, powdery ash which you can wipe away. Keeping the oven clean will help maintain the appliance in a like-new condition so it performs as expected.

Preparation

Remove the broiler pan and broiler grid from the oven. Remove the shiny oven shelves. Leave the gray porcelain shelves in the oven during the self-cleaning cycle.

Wipe any soil from around the door frame. Don't clean the gasket. Do not tamper with the gasket, or you could compromise its seal integrity.

Wipe any heavy soil out of the oven to avoid heavy smoke during the self-clean cycle. Vent the kitchen by turning on the exhaust fan or opening a window to allow smoke to escape the kitchen during the self-cleaning cycle.

Remove pet birds to another room that is isolated from the kitchen before beginning the self-cleaning cycle.
