Bathroom tiles are particularly susceptible to damage.
Over time tiles in your kitchen or bathroom are likely to crack, become damaged or simply fall off. This is especially true in the bathroom where the warm and damp conditions created by the hot showers and baths can weaken the tiling cement.
Instructions
1. Place the tarp or waterproof sheet on the floor to ensure no adhesive damages the flooring.
2. Set up the ladder or steps at an appropriate position.
3. Take out the tile you want to replace by scraping out the grout with a palate knife and levering it out with the knife blade or by breaking up the tile using the hammer and chisel.
4. Remove and remaining adhesive from the wall using the hammer and chisel
5. Spread some tile adhesive on the back of the new tile using the adhesive spreader.
6. Attach the new tile to the wall ensuring it is flush with the other tiles.
7. Leave to dry overnight or for as long as the adhesive manufacturer recommends.
8. Fill in the gap around the tiles with the grout and the grouting tool and leave to dry.
Tips Warnings
When buying new tiles for you kitchen or bathroom, always by some extra so if this situation occurs you do not find out the tiles are no longer made
If replacing several tiles you may also need to add in spacers so there is space to grout in. If just replacing a few, the spacers should still be there from when they were originally put up.
This technique also works for replacing wall and floor tiles as well.
Observe all ladder safety precautions at all times.
