Audi Racing Schools

Audis are pricey to own and maintain.

Because of the high purchase cost of school cars, race training programs do not typically use Audis because they are pricey to own and maintain. However, for those who desire a performance or racing experience, there is a way to get your itch scratched. The program is operated by Audi USA and offered at two select sites, the first being in Braselton, Georgia, at Road Atlanta in conjunction with the Panoz racing school, with a second and more expansive curricula being offered at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. We will focus on the latter opportunity because it offers a full range of Audi performance/race experiences.

Audi One-Day Program

The Audi Experience offers the driver a one-day session at Infineon Speedway based on the cost and/or desire of the student. The program offers the basics of performance driving and focuses on the essentials of driving fast. The school program offers two car types: the Audi S-type and the R8. The S is one of the most reasonably priced touring coupes in the market offering a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine, mated with a seven-speed transmission. In the case of the R8, things get interesting quickly with its mid-engine 4.2-liter V8 with seven-speed transmission. The program takes the student through a series of driving challenges, including the fundamentals of driving, vehicle dynamics, technique of a curve, slalom exercises and track driving.

Audi R8, TTS or S-Model Two-Day

Where the one-day program finishes, the two-day program picks up the pace with the addition of another car in the form of the Audi TTS. The TTS offers an all-wheel experience, and for some drivers the extra traction can make the difference between being confident in the car, versus just hanging on. Once the student picks the car he's going to drive, the curricula take him through a range of increasing challenges including advanced fundamentals, vehicle dynamics, technique of a curve and additional slalom exercises plus extra track time.

Audi R8 Advanced Two-Day

The two-day advanced program is all sports car all the time. In this set of sessions, the student has a chance to really wring out an Audi R8. The program takes what the driver has learned to date and gets into the details of what a high-performance lap is about. The program extends previous exercises and adds new experiences, including advanced car control, heel-toe braking and downshifting and handling course exercises, with an emphasis on behind the wheel time.
