What Is Magnesium Malate

Magnesium malate is a mineral supplement that is derived from a magnesium salt of malic acid. It controls many important biological functions in the human body like maintaining cardiovascular and helps in the formation of nerve, bone and muscle.

Natural Sources

Magnesium malate occurs naturally in the following diets: bananas, fish, yogurt, artichokes, grains, almonds, black beans, nuts and cashews (i.e. kidney-shaped nuts found in Tropical America).

Other Ingredients

Other ingredients found in magnesium malate include magnesium stearate, stearic acid, modified cellulose gum and acacia gum. It is a perfect food supplement for vegetarian because magnesium malate does not contain any egg content.

Benefits

Magnesium malate provides the benefits of both magnesium and malic acid. Magnesium plays an important part in the assimilation of calcium, while malic acid (a natural fruit acid) helps in the transformation of food into ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

Warnings

Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their medical service providers before using magnesium malate. The mineral supplement should also be kept out of the reach of children.

Side effects

People who have pre-existing medical conditions like bloating or diarrhea, should not take magnesium malate because both magnesium and malic can cause serious intestinal problems.
