Timberline woodstove question
Hi folks: I hope this is the appropriate forum to post this question. I recently acquired a property that had a timberline woodstove installed. See photo below. My understanding is that Vermont castings makes this stove. My question is is it possible to replace the front doors with some doors that have glass? This particular wood stove sits in the living room, and I think would be rather nice to be able to view the flame during the long winters here in Alaska. I would hate to have to replace the entire wood stove just to get a different doors. Does anyone know if this was an option for the stove? Thanks, Troy I would not count on it is my guess. Vermont Castings has had a tumultuous history and has been sold more than a few times. There were periods where getting any information or support for mine was difficult. I do know they've made changes to many of their products so I doubt support for (I'm guessing) an older, pre-catalyst stove especially one produced under another brand name. The good news is that at least now there is once again a Vermont Castings website. Bummer! I had a feeling this was going to be the answer, but thought I would ask. Admittedly, this particular wood stove is overkill for the size of the house. I'm curious if anyone has an idea of what it might be worth, as I may just try to sell it locally and get something that's a little better suited. Thx, Troy I'd check local ads to see what folks are getting for used stoves. Here in Tn, they are fairly cheap in the spring but when fall comes around the price goes back up [maybe double] Hi Troy, you mention enjoying the look of the fire through the glass doors. If you get a new stove, be careful it is not too big. I selected a smaller glass front stove so I could run it with a good fire. The larger they become the more you close them down and then all you see it smoke and soot on the glass. You'll have to judge for your needs just an FYI. Bud Great tip. Thanks for the information. Troy I like the pellet stoves too...can't blame you for wanting glass doors. When you get old and lazy like me, you'll get a pellet stove. lol
