Kenmore Water Softener
1st time post, week long viewer. Doing research on a water softener and came down to Ecowater 3500 series and the Kinetico (having some come by for both on quote). But was wondering what about the Kenmore Hybrid ( Kenmore Elite Hybrid Water Softener Reviews - MySears Community ). Anyone have any experience with these? I know the old version of Kenmore's softeners had problems where auto-reg shuts off and would take days to get the softener working to pump softened water out. Any help would be great. Of course their site doesn't go into any detail on the equipment. I would bet that the carbon and resin are in the same tank--not a good idea and will cause issues in a few years. But then, they don't often last longer than that anyway. Pure Water is necessary for health and keep health risk free. So i suggest you to choose the one which actually gives pure water. Do market research, ask from your friends, go for the right water filter. The Kenmore Elite Hybrid water softener (#42-38520) is virtually identical to the Kenmore Ultra High Efficiency water softener (#42-38420). Hybrid offers a charcoal filter to purify your water and to remove any odor but it has less clear water iron removal (3 parts per million vs 10 parts per million for the Ultra High Efficiency). Other specs are identical especially the pipe sizes and flow rate. Both are also made by Ecowater according to Sears. I have had very good luck with Kenmore softeners--the last one lasted over 17 years. Unless you have water problem (like bad taste or odor), you can get by with the Kenmore Ultra High Efficiency instead of the more expensive Hybrid. We've looked at Ecowater's softener but they want way too much money--almost 3 times the price of a Kenmore. Good luck to you.
