Cool Lipo Vs Smart Lipo

Cosmetic surgery is commonplace, and with that the questions about which procedures are the best are ever-increasing. With the interest in cosmetic surgery rising, liposuction in particular is leading the way in cutting-edge procedures. Laser liposuction such as Cool Lipo and Smart Lipo are in a head-to-head competition, so how do you know which is right for you?

Features

At a glance, Smart Lipo and Cool Lipo seem to be virtually the same procedure. Both laser procedures break up fat cells with less complications than typical liposuction. Furthermore, both claim to be the best alternative for those seeking to get rid of stubborn fat that diet and exercise has left behind.

Smart Lipo

Smart Lipo was the first of the two procedures to be approved by the FDA. Supporters of Smart Lipo might see this as a more established product, whereas supporters of Cool Lipo might view Smart Lipo as the older and less advanced technology.

According to coollipodoctor.com, Smart Lipo uses a dual-platform laser separating the functions for fat removal and skin tightening. This laser has a 30-watt, 1,064-nm wavelength

As for recovery time, for this out patient procedure Smart Lipo patients are encouraged to return to work within one to two days. Recovery time is said to be painless and begins as soon as the procedure has ended.

Depending on the size, Smart Lipo can cost between $1,700 and $4,500 per treated area.

Cool Lipo

Cool Lipo was approved by the FDA in January 2008 and has been a popular procedure among cosmetic surgery patients since. The Cool Lipo system has a 1,320 nm wavelength and uses one laser to separate fat cells and tighten skin.

The procedure takes up to three hours, uses only local anesthesia and is also an outpatient procedure. Recovery time is a few days, although certain patients might return to work the next day depending on their procedure.

Depending on the size of the treatment area, Cool Lipo can cost around $1,000.

Similarities

Both of these procedures are offered in your physician's office with minimally invasive techniques and little recovery time.

Patients of either procedure are expected to experience minimal bruising and are sent home with a compression dressing to keep skin firm and help in the healing process.

Both procedures are FDA approved, use only local anesthesia, and can be done more than one time if a patient wishes to have a touch-up in a certain area.

Benefits

Smart Lipo and Cool Lipo seem to be the wave of the future when it comes to liposuction. Patients no longer have to deal with long procedures, long recovery time and extremely dangerous conditions.

Although both procedures break down fat and tighten skin, they cannot guarantee the disappearance of cellulite or that patients will not accumulate fat again. A healthy lifestyle should be combined with either of these high-tech procedures.
