Diaper Genie Instructions
The Playtex Diaper Genie comes in three models. All are designed to hold soiled diapers without odor or mess. The Diaper Genie wraps each diaper in plastic, and it stores the diapers until they can be disposed of. While being stored, the diapers do not touch the inside of the pail, and once a diaper is put in, you never have to touch it again. Diaper Genie refills are easy to install, and the Diaper Genie is easy to empty.
Diaper Genie Twistaway Pails
The Diaper Genie Twistaway Pail was the first Diaper Genie. It is no longer manufactured, but a great many are still in use. It comes pre-assembled; all you have to do is take it out of the box. Flip open the top of the Genie, then open a refill cartridge and pull up a few inches of the plastic wrap. Tie a knot in the plastic wrap, then simply put the refill in the genie and push the knotted plastic down into the canister, past the plastic guides.
When you place a soiled diaper in the Diaper Genie, press it down past the the plastic guides, close the lid, and twist the top a few turns. The diaper is now sealed inside, with no mess or odor. To empty the pail, push the cut button on the top and twist the top a few times, This will cut the bag inside. Open the bottom of the Diaper Genie, pull out the dirty diapers (be sure to tie off the top that you just cut), and put them in the trash bag. Now tie off the plastic from the refill cartridge, and you're ready to start again.
Diaper Genie II System
The Diaper Genie II is also pre-assembled, and you still have to knot the bag and drop the refills into place. This version, however, eliminates the need to twist the top handle to seal each diaper.
The Diaper Genie II has a twist and lock clamp inside. Push the diaper into the pail past the clamp, and the diaper is sealed in the bottom half of the pail. Eliminating the need to twist the bag makes it possible to use the Diaper Genie II with only one hand. To empty the Diaper Genie II, you open the pail in the middle, cut the bag with a provided cutter, and then tie a new knot in the bottom of the refill.
Diaper Genie II Elite System
The Diaper Genie II Elite provides all the benefits of the Diaper Genie II but is even easier to use. This model opens with a foot pedal and is taller so you don't need to bend over to put a diaper in it. This makes it much easier to dispose of a diaper while holding a baby. The Diaper Genie II Elite does need a bit of assembly because it is so tall. It comes in two pieces, which must be snapped together.
Diaper Genie Twistaway Refills
Diaper Genie Twistaway refills are designed for use only with the Twistaway model. They are scented and are made with a triple-layer film. They can be bought anywhere Diaper Genie Twistaway Pails were sold.
Diaper Genie II refills
Diaper Genie II refills are designed for use in both the Diaper Genie II and the Diaper Genie II Elite. They are made with a five-layer film and unscented. The refills are designed to hold up to 180 small diapers.
