1. Find or purchase containers for your aromatherapy jar candles. Pint- and quart-sized glass canning jars are ideal. Bottles with long necks (such as some of the ones pictured) should be avoided as they will be difficult to light and a potential fire hazard. Empty glass jelly jars or condiment jars often make good candle jars.
2. Locate wax for your aromatherapy jar candles. Beeswax is the best wax available, but can be quite expensive. Look for natural waxes such as soy as an alternative. Paraffin is cheap and easy, but not recommended for indoor burning because of its carcinogenic properties.
3. Choose essential oils for the aromatherapy jar candles. You'll add about five drops per two cups of dry wax flakes, once the wax is melted and removed from the heat source.
