LPN's jobs are very versatile in the medical field. They work under the supervision of Physicians and Registered Nurses, which will vary in all states. LPNs care for many different types of people such as: sick people, injured and even the disabled.
Instructions
1. Care for patients. This may include bathing, feeding and basically tending to patient needs. LPNs should naturally have a caring nature because this is what they will be required to do.
2. Give bedside assistance. LPNs provide care for patients in the bed. He should have good customer service skills and preferably a strong back in case they are asked to lift, move or walk patients around.
3. Collect samples. As an LPN you will have to take blood or other fluid samples for lab testing and may also be needed to help a physician perform tests. A good quality for an LPN is cleanliness. She needs to be able to keep all equipment used and the work area clean or uncluttered.
4. Monitor patients. LPNs typically pull and prepare charts. LPNs also take vital signs regularly. An LPN will keep up with blood pressure, weight, injections, catheters and as well as other tasks (depending on the patient). Patients need to have proper supplies. The LPN is typically responsible for making sure the patient obtains any special supplies that they might need.
5. Communicate well. Communication is important for the health of the patients, which the LPN may be monitoring. LPN's will get patient history and relay any information that the registered nurses or physicians may need to know.
