Perform Infant Yoga Moves On A Baby

Infant yoga is a new trend parents and health care professionals are practicing to start the child on an early routine for health and self-awareness. Infant yoga promotes better baby digestions, deeper sleep and less crying. Until the child passes from infanthood into the toddler years, each parent much perform the yoga moves for the baby. Parent-baby yoga sessions also increase emotional and physical bonds.

Instructions

Infant Yoga Moves to Ease Colic

1. Lay the baby on his or her back on a soft blanket or yoga mat. Gently massage each of the baby’s arms and legs to stimulate blood flow and soothe with touch. Slowly pull the baby’s legs back until the knees moves toward the chest. Inhale slowly and audibly. Carefully use both hands to softly hold the position. Holding this yoga position will help your baby release gas through the digestive tract. Continue breathing in slowly and audibly.

2. Release the pose by pulling the baby’s legs back down to a natural pose. Exhale slowly and audibly. Rub gently up and down each leg and on the stomach and chest.

3. Pull both knees back to the baby’s stomach and hold the pose. Return legs to natural position and gently massage them. Repeat this process three or four times. Continue breathing audibly with each movement.

4. Push both the baby’s knees back into his stomach and slowly circle the extended legs in a clockwise motion. Reverse the circles and repeat.

5. Return the baby’s legs to a straight position. Draw one knee back to the baby’s chest or stomach and hold one leg straight without straining. Slowly switch legs. Repeat three or four times each leg.

6. Raise both legs slightly in the air, without straining the baby, and gently move them in circular motions like a bicycle. Finish by massaging the baby’s legs, stomach and chest.

Infant Yoga Moves to Stop Crying

7. Pick up your baby so he or she faces you. Draw your child into your chest and hold your baby comfortably.

8. Keep your mouth closed. Slowly perform simple breathing exercises by breathing in through the nose.

9. Try to mimic the sound of ocean waves with the sound of your breath. Recall the image of ocean waves to help you stay relaxed. Your body language and relaxed spirit will probably calm your child’s crying jag.
