Detox Foot Pads

Detox foot pads, also called detox foot patches, are a form of detoxing that was originally started in Japan centuries ago. It involves the application of pads on the feet placed in areas that are based on reflexology points corresponding to other areas on the body.

Significance

Toxins accumulate in the body due to environmental toxins, poor eating habits and excessive use of tobacco and alcohol. These can lead to a compromised immunity, lethargy and sleep disturbances.

Function

In addition to their coordinating reflexology points, detox foot pads are used to flush toxins out of the system. The theory is that toxins build up in the feet, and they're drawn out from there.

Sachets

Sachets that have various minerals are attached to an adhesive strip, then placed on the feet. They're left on overnight.

Removal

The pads stimulate circulation and draw toxins out of the feet while you're sleeping. In the morning, take them off and inspect them. If they're very dark and discolored, you have a lot of toxins in your system.

Identification

The foot pads can also be worn on other areas of your body to help increase circulation to sore muscles and scars.

Warning

According to the Mayo Clinic, there are no scientific studies that prove detox foot pads are effective.
