Use Crazy Glue To Close Wounds

The idea of using super glue to close wounds has been popular since the Vietnam War, when it was actually used in battlefield triage to raise the survival rate of American soldiers. Almost everyone has a tube of regular, store-bought super glue somewhere in their house to fix a coffee cup or put some other small trinket back together. Most people would not be include it in their first aid kit, but it is worth considering. The glue works as a band-aid without having a piece of cloth that bunches, catches on things, and gets waterlogged. Super glue takes the same amount of time to apply and much of the preparation is the same.

Instructions

1. Examine the wound. Super glue is fine to use on small wounds with straight edges or shallow abrasion. Puncture wounds such as animal bites or deep wounds with ragged edges should be treated by a doctor.

2. Clean and dry the wound completely. Anti-bacterial soap and water is sufficient.

3. Pull the edges of the wound as close to closed as you can.

4. Paint the super glue over the top and allow it to dry. This will keep the wound from bleeding further and seal out dirt.

5. Keep the wound out of contact with surfaces and allow it to dry. Super glue usually bonds within 90 seconds.
