Foods To Cure Headache

Headaches are a common malady affecting people of all ages and from all walks of life. Headaches can have a number of causes, with diet being one of the most common. However, just as there are foods that can bring on headaches, there are foods that can help make them vanish.

Bananas

Magnesium-rich foods, such as bananas, can help prevent headaches. If you're prone to headaches on a regular basis, adding a banana to your diet each day can help delay the onset of symptoms.

Tea

Not only does the steam help to unblock your sinuses, but tea contains powerful antioxidants known as catechins that can help remove toxins from your system and relieve minor headache pain. Choose black, green, white, herbal or chai; make it piping hot and add a slice or two of lemon for the most effective results.

Apples

Peel, core and quarter an apple. Eat this fruit first thing in the morning (or on an empty stomach) as a tasty cure for headaches. The fruit is rich in flavonoids, which can help lower blood pressure and reduce stress-related headaches.

Chili peppers

Chili peppers contain capsaicin. This chemical, which gives peppers their spicy kick, stops cluster headaches in their tracks.

Cinnamon

Exposure to cold air can cause headaches. Mix 1 teaspoon of cinnamon with 1 tablespoon of water to create a thin paste. Apply the paste to your temples and forehead; this should provide the necessary relief.

Herbs

Create your own herbal brew featuring marjoram, rosemary or basil leaves. Pour hot water over the herb of your choice, wait three minutes, strain and drink warm. Each cup adds antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin K and magnesium to your diet, all of which can help ease headache pain.
