Make A Diffuser Lamp

To release an essential oil into the air, all you have to do is to heat it. Fancy diffuser lamps can control the amount of oil that is released, and in some cases will circulate the aroma with a fan, but a simple candle can do the trick just as well. Just add more drops of oil whenever you want to strengthen the aroma.

Instructions

Jar Candle Method

1. Light a jar candle and let it burn until there is a sizable pool of wax at the bottom. The more wax, the better.

2. Place several drops of essential oil in the bottom of the candle. Place them in the edge of the wax instead of in the center of the flame.

3. As the candle burns, it will release the oil into the air. For a slower release, put the oil on the inside edge of the candle jar instead of directly in the wax.

4. Make a small diffuser bowl out of aluminum foil to hold the oil. One way to do this is to wrap the aluminum foil around your finger tip.

5. Make a small wire loop just slightly smaller than the rim of the diffuser bowl. Magnet wire is good for this, because it is thin and easy to bend. Paper clips also work. Do not use wire with a thick plastic or rubber coating.

6. Cut three pieces of wire, each about 4 inches long. Attach each to the wire loop by twisting the piece around the loop. Each piece should have about 2.5 inches of wire sticking straight down from the loop.

7. Stick the wire ends between the tea candle and the metal holder. Place the diffuser bowl in the loop and add several drops of oil.

8. Light the candle. As it heats up the bowl, it will release the oil into the air.
