Stay Focused In A Job Interview

Many of us have some level of anxiety walking into an interview. The key to a successful interview is to stay focused. Practice effective techniques that will help you to stay focused not only in the interview but also in every other aspect of your life.

Instructions

1. Prepare for your interview; learn what you can about the organization, its mission and the position before attending the interview.

2. Get a little exercise and some fresh air before the interview. Take a walk at lunch, do a little shopping, visit a friend or enjoy light exercise.

3. On arrival, practice five minutes or so of relaxed breathing, take each breath slowly, gently and deliberately, fill your lungs to a comfortable capacity, allow the air to release from your lungs in a quiet, smooth and natural way while relaxing your shoulders, chest and diaphragm.

4. Listen carefully to the questions asked in their entirety. Focus on what the interviewer is saying so that when it comes time for you to answer you will answer with confidence.

5. Eliminate all distractions, if this is not possible put them aside, they will be there after the interview.

6. Keep the prize in site. This is the most important thing you can do to increase your focus. In this case, the prize is a wonderful job opportunity.
