Yeast infections can be an irritating part of being a woman. Some women experience recurring yeast infections that aren't cured by over-the-counter medications. Another way to treat yeast infections is with natural remedies. The ingredients you need are easy to find.
Yogurt Cure
The yogurt cure is one of the more well-known natural cures for yeast infections. Using yogurt puts healthy bacteria in the place of the yeast infection to clear it up. Buy a small container of plain yogurt. You'll also need tampons. Dip the tampon in the yogurt, and then insert it for at least an hour. The bacteria from the yogurt should clear up the yeast bacteria, and the yogurt will soothe the burning and itching. Repeat this twice a day until the yeast infection is gone, which should take about five to seven days.
Apple Cider Vinegar Cure
Another natural way to cure a yeast infection is with apple cider vinegar. Choose an organic brand with low acidity for the best results. You can add it to a sitz bath, which is a very shallow bath that covers only the groin area. Add 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to the water and sit in the bath for 15 minutes. Pat the area dry with a towel. Trying this each night for a week usually clears up the yeast infection. Don't get dressed until the area is completely dry. Choose loose and breathable underwear. You can also take a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day to prevent yeast infections from coming back.
Boric Acid
Boric acid has been known to cure yeast infections almost instantly, as it kills the bacteria that causes the yeast infection fast. Boric acid can be used in suppository form twice a day until the yeast infection is gone. Stop using boric acid once your yeast infection is cured, usually within three to seven days, as it should not be used for an extended period of time. Boric acid should also never be taken orally.
