Become A Yoga Instructor

With the rising popularity of holistic and alternative medical care, becoming a yoga instructor is a great career choice. Not only will you enhance your physical well-being, you will help others improve their health. Follow these steps to enter the field.

Instructions

1. Take Yoga Classes. The best way to learn yoga is by doing it. Find classes in your area (the YMCA is a good place to start) and sign up.

2. Purchase yoga books and videos and practice the moves. This is a great way to supplement what you're learning in class. To become an instructor you must master the poses and movements; that will only happen with continual practice.

3. Decide on the type of yoga you want to perform. There are many types of yoga, including Iyengar Yoga, Bikram Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga. The type of yoga you decide to practice will determine the training you will need to become a yoga instructor.

4. Sign up for a yoga workshop. Workshops afford you the opportunity to really focus on your techniques and learn from some highly trained individuals.

5. Learn the necessary steps for certification as a yoga instructor in your area. Certification requirements for yoga instructors vary from state to state, so make sure you're clear on what steps you need to take to achieve your goal.
