Pectin For Joint Treatment

Arthritis sufferers have long searched for natural, non-habit-forming remedies to relieve the pain, stiffness and inflammation of joint degeneration attributed to various forms of arthritic disease. Pectin, a substance found in all citrus fruits as well as apples, bananas and certain vegetables, bonds with heavy metals and eliminates them from joints, bone and soft tissue through the process known as chelation. Pectin helps in the production of synovial fluids that coat the joints and cartilage, promoting improved joint health. In combination with foods high in potassium, pectin has been shown to reduce joint pain. Though not a Food and Drug Administration-approved drug, the pectin-potassium connection is a respected, safe and effective folk medicine treatment for joint pain.

Acidic Vs. Alkaline

Common dietary practices in the United States promote foods and eating habits that create an acidic condition in the system forming waste material that is not easily eliminated by the kidneys. This waste matter is deposited in the joints, causing gouty arthritis and other painful joint symptoms. Consuming foods and drinks high in potassium combats this process, helping to alkalinize the body and create a state where waste material can once again be broken down and eliminated.

Heavy Metals Contamination

Heavy metals contamination is responsible for the creation of many diseases running rampant through the population, including most forms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Autoimmune diseases affecting the joints, such as Lupus and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, are the result of the body's inability to restore health as a result of an onslaught from a foreign source. Joints become damaged from deposits of heavy metals becoming painful and dysfunctional. Removing heavy metals through chelation therapy allows the body to begin to repair itself. Foods such as cilantro, chlorella and pectin, most notably apple pectin, are used for chelating toxic metals such as mercury and lead from the deep tissues and bones and removing them through the elimination system.

Potassium

Introducing proper amounts of electrolytes, especially potassium, to the body greatly increases the potential for an alkaline state to manifest and offers sufferers of painful joint disease the opportunity to experience reduced pain and fewer symptoms from arthritis and related diseases.

Chelation Therapy

Chelation is a medical therapy used to restore cellular homeostasis, generally by intravenous methods, where the chelating agent binds to heavy metals and toxins, removing them from the body. The use of modified citrus and apple pectin represents a non-toxic, gentle and safe chelation process, eliminating the need for intravenous infusions. Combining pectin in a drink with foods high in potassium such as grapes, organic apple cider vinegar, strawberries and tart cherry juice, offers arthritis patients and others seeking natural joint treatment almost immediate pain relief in a short period of time. Enabled by this old folk medicine cure, joint-pain victims experience a rejuvenated outlook on their lives.

The Recipe

The most effective way to consume pectin for joint-pain relief is mixed with grape juice and other fruits high in potassium. Pectin can be found in the grocery stores in powder or liquid form under the brand name Certo, or in health-food stores under various names. Make a delicious fruit smoothie mixing 2 oz. to 3 oz. tart cherry juice, 3 oz. pure, unsweetened grape juice, ½ cup strawberries, ½ cup sour cherries, ½ medium banana, 2 tbsp. real maple syrup, and 1 tbsp. to 4 tbsp. teaspoons pectin. It's best to use organic fruits and juices and grade B maple syrup. Adjust the amount of pectin based on how you feel, remembering less is best. Mix all in the blender and enjoy!
