Jenny Craig Diet Food

Fresh fruit complements the Jenny Craig menu.

Jenny Craig is a weight-loss program based on learning healthy living habits. The program centers on portion control and healthy food choices, physical activity and finding balance in a hectic life. This diet is based on preportioned food items created by Jenny Craig Inc., as well as healthy foods found in your own kitchen. Foods can be purchased at a Jenny Craig center or sent directly to your home.

Breakfast

Breakfast choices include eggs, cereals, breakfast bars and muffins. One such option is a cheese omelet with bell peppers and a side of roasted new potatoes. Cold cereal selections of frosted or multigrain oats are also on the menu, along with a variety of fruit and granola cereals. Muffins such as blueberry and banana nut, lend variety to the menu as well. In addition to these selections are hot cereals, burritos and sandwiches. All of these items contain fewer than 200 calories.

Lunch

Lunch choices include selections of sandwiches, salads, soups and pastas, all containing 250 calories or fewer. Some frozen sandwich options are barbecued beef or turkey paninis. A meatball-stuffed sandwich or a turkey burger may serve as a more hearty meal. Traditional chicken salad, fajita chicken, salad and tuna salad come in kits that you assemble yourself and are served with whole-grain crackers. Soups, such as chicken and corn chowder, chicken noodle and beef stew, are available but do not include crackers. One of the pasta selections is rotini with meatballs, which also appears on the dinner menu.

Dinner

The dinner menu on the Jenny Craig program offers variety, including chicken, beef, pork and fish, as well as an assortment of ethnic cuisine. One meal not typically found on a diet menu is the barbecued chicken breast served with baked beans. The stir-fried beef served on a bed of rice with stir-fried vegetables provides Asian flavor, while the chicken Parmesan and traditional lasagna are among the Italian choices. Vegetarian items, such as macaroni and cheese served with green beans and carrots or pasta fagioli, are also available. Lunch and dinner items may be interchanged, depending on your appetite and schedule.

Dessert

Sweets are allowed on this plan.

Although the Jenny Craig system is designed for weight loss, there is an array of cakes and cookies on the menu as well. Strawberry shortcake, chocolate chip cookies and iced lemon cake are a few of the sweet choices. Several different cheesecakes, such as triple chocolate, cherry chocolate, and cookies and cream, are available as well. Chocolate cake and brownies also appear on the menu, all with approximately 170 calories. Other desserts include cookie bars, cinnamon twists and an assortment of snack bars.

Snacks

Snacking in between meals is encouraged to prevent overeating. Crackers, soups and chips are a few of the options offered on the menu. Cheese crackers and multigrain snack crackers, along with smaller portions of soups, such as vegetable minestrone, tomato Florentine and Thai chicken, serve as snack choices. Honey-mustard pretzels are salty-sweet snacks, while vegetable bruschetta chips provide a hint of garlic. Trail mix containing granola clusters, dried cranberries, raisins and almonds, as well as cinnamon twists, are other potential selections. Though these prepackaged snacks are available, fresh fruits and vegetables are also encouraged in this program.
