Stamp Copper

If you are looking for an easy way to make one-of-a-kind, personalized jewelry, copper stamping may be the answer. Copper blanks can be stamped using metal stamps to spell out names and sayings or to add symbols. Once stamped, the copper pieces can be used in necklaces, earrings or bracelets. For a more stunning appearance, you can add color to the stamped image to make the word or symbol stand out.

Instructions

1. Place a copper blank on a strong, solid surface.

2. Secure the blank in place with a piece of masking tape. Place the tape across the copper blank so it is even with bottom of the area you want to stamp. This way, the masking tape will act as a guide so your letters or symbols will be straight.

3. Hold the metal stamp in the proper position so the letter or symbol will be right side up when stamped. You can use the reflective surface of the copper to see the bottom of the stamp.

4. Place the stamp on the copper, and tap the top of the stamp hard with a hammer or heavy mallet.

5. Remove the stamp and move on to the next letter or symbol. Continue stamping until you have stamped all the desired letters or symbols.

6. If you want to highlight your stamped letters with color, dab acrylic paint over the stamped images using a foam paintbrush. Use a paper towel to remove excess paint. Allow paint to dry thoroughly.
