Cure Stomach Cramps

Most stomach cramps are actually muscle cramps. Sometimes we confuse them with stomachaches, indigestion or upset stomachs. Cramps occur when your muscles are not getting enough oxygen. Stress, eating too much or too fast, and exercising after a large meal are common causes of stomach cramps.

Instructions

1. Learn what sets off your stomach cramps and avoid doing it in the future. Eat moderate meals and chew your food slowly. Do not eat when you are stressed or upset.

2. Limit caffeine consumption. Beverages with caffeine make your overly stressed stomach more stressed.

3. Use an over-the-counter antacid. If your stomach feels bloated, try an OTC treatment for gas. Allow yourself to pass the gas.

4. Walk around the house to work the cramps out. This causes gas to move around and come out.

5. Lie down for a little bit and relax. Place a moist towel on your forehead and a heating pad or hot water bottle on your abdomen. Do deep breathing exercises while you are lying down to help yourself relax.

6. Do some light stretching and exercise for relief from your stomach cramps. Be careful not to overdo it. If the cramps get worse when exercising, stop immediately.
