Air filters prevent particles from entering into and gumming up an engine.
An Acura TL's air filter may be easy to swap out, but it is still an important part of the engine. The filter helps protect the engine from dust, dirt, and other particles that maybe be kicked off the road while driving. The Acura TL intakes a lot of air as a regular part of engine function, and a dirty air filter means the TL's engine strains a little harder to "breathe."
Instructions
1. Open the TL's engine and locate the air filter housing. It will be in the upper right part of the engine, near the fuse and relay block.
2. Remove the throttle cable from the air filter housing.
3. Remove four screws from the TL's air filter's housing. Each screw will be in a corner of the housing.
4. Remove the parts of the air of the TL's filter housing cover. They should lift right off.
5. Pull out the old and dirty filter and replace it with a new and fresher one.
6. Replace the two parts of the housing cover and fasten them down with the screws your removed in Step 3. Reattach the throttle cable and close the TL's engine compartment.
