Make Candle Centerpieces Out Of Stem Glasses

Make candle centerpieces from an assortment of stem glasses from thin champagne flutes to fat wine goblets. Decorate your stem glasses with cabochons and ribbons and light the table with tea lights and pillar candles. You can make either of these simple centerpieces in less than an hour with supplies you can find at craft stores, thrift stores and yard sales.

Instructions

Champagne Glass Centerpiece

1. Make a centerpiece with champagne glasses and tea light candles. Place one champagne glass in the center of your mirror tile. Glue the base of the stem to the mirror with strong, clear craft glue such as E-6000 or Liquid Nail. Arrange the remaining four champagne flutes around the glass in the center. Glue the stems to the mirror and let the glue dry.

2. Fill each of the glasses with colorful glass cabochons to just below the rim. You can also use marbles or glass stones. Look in a craft store to find a selection of small bits of colored glass.

3. Nestle a tea light in the top of each glass. Surround the metal part of the candle with glass stones so that it is not visible.

4. Scatter more cabochons around the stems of your champagne glasses to finish your centerpiece.

Assorted Stem Centerpiece

5. Find eight assorted stem glasses in varying heights. The base of the stem should be flat enough to stand a candle when the glass is upside down. Look in thrift stores and at yard sales to find a variety of stem glasses.

6. Cut sections of ribbon to fit in a spiral around each of your assorted stem glasses from the rim to the base of the stem.

7. Glue the ribbon to the outside of the rim with a glue gun, and wrap the ribbon around the goblet section of the glass and the stem, ending on the base underneath the glass. Glue the ribbon along the way to keep it in place and again at the end.

8. Turn the glasses upside down on top of a mirror tile. Arrange the glasses so that the heights are randomly scattered.

9. Make sure that the section of rim where the ribbon begins is facing the inside of the centerpiece. Glue the rims of the glasses to the mirror tile with craft glue and let it dry.

10. Place the round candles on top of the upside-down stem glasses.
