Physiotherapy Treatment Of Varicose Veins

According to the staff of VeinDirectory.org, varicose veins are common in the United States. Varicose veins affect 15 percent of men in the US and 25 percent of women. Varicose veins are blue or purple veins that protrude from the skin. Physiotherapy is a treatment for varicose veins.

Varicose

It is possible for any vein in the body to become varicose. However, it is most common to find varicose veins in a person's legs or feet because standing increases the pressure in these veins.

Physiotherapy

Another term which means the same as physiotherapy is "physical therapy." This term can refer to any physical therapy such as massage or exercise.

Elevation

A simple physical therapy that you can perform is to elevate your legs. It is important to have your legs above your heart level so that there is not too much pressure on the veins in your legs.

Compression Stockings

Wearing compressions stockings can be another treatment for varicose veins. You should put these on in the morning before you begin to walk around which causes your veins to swell.

Walking

Do not sit or stand for extended periods of time. Every half hour or so, it is important to walk around because this will force the blood from the deeper vein system.
