In most cases, the stair lift system can carry up to 300 lbs. of weight. Some safety features are included, such as armrests, footrests and seat belts to prevent falling. They also feature wireless remote controls, call buttons and obstruction sensors.


Types


There are stair-mounting models of stair lift systems and there are wall-mounting models. There are different chair lift models that you can install that would work with different types of staircases. The price varies from the style and height of the staircase. The curved staircases are more expensive than straight ones and the longer or higher the staircases, the more expensive the stair lift system is. Most models run on electricity (AC) only, while models that are more expensive can run after a power failure using the back-up battery (DC). Some stair lift systems can be installed outdoors, making it easier for people to go to the garden and enjoy the outdoors without too much effort.

It is important to practice extreme caution when operating or using a stair lift system. Wear the harness or seat belt to prevent falling. Individuals who are unable to move on their own, such as those suffering from paralysis, need assistance. Consult a physician to see if it is advisable for these individuals to use the stair lift. When assisting non-mobile individuals, do not walk too close to a moving stair lift system so that you will not be caught in the tracks. The stair lift system is never for kids to play with.
