Remove Super Glue From Dentures

Many people use super glue to fix broken dentures.

Some dentists advise against using super glue on your dentures; however, many denture wearers apply it for a quick fix. Super glue creates a strong, almost instant bond on all kinds of surfaces---dentures included. Usually the bond is temporary, as saliva will break down the glue over time. However, if you've glued in a tooth or fixed a crack with super glue, it's easy to make a mess and get excess glue on dentures. Fortunately, there is a simple solution to cleaning up the extra glue that may get left behind during an emergency denture repair.

Instructions

1. Soak a cotton swab in the nail polish remover. Do not use the acetone-free variety, as the acetone is what aids in removing the super glue.

2. Rub the saturated cotton swab over the areas of super glue on the dentures. Press hard, and move the swab back and forth. This will weaken the glue, and it may begin to loosen.

3. Rinse the nail polish remover off the dentures using warm (not hot) water.

4. Soak the dentures in a bath of warm, soapy water for several hours. Use a denture brush to scrub the remaining glue off.

5. Clean dentures using your normal routine once the glue has been removed.
