Reduce Cholesterol With Purslane

Many people with high cholesterol look for natural ways to lower their cholesterol. You can make several lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise and herbal supplements, to improve your cholesterol. For instance, you can use purslane, known as a common weed, to lower cholesterol.

Instructions

1. Find out the benefits of purslane. Purslane helps reduce cholesterol because it's high in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin C. These substances lower your bad cholesterol while elevating your good cholesterol.

2. Grow purslane. You're better off growing purslane on your own than attempting to search the stores for the plant. Since it's a weed, you should have no problem keeping an ample supply handy. Purslane grows during the warm season and takes about 4 to 6 weeks to cultivate.

3. Add purslane to your meals. Purslane has a lemony taste and you can serve it cooked or raw. Add purslane as a topping to your salads and sandwiches. Put the leaves in your soups, stews and sauces.

4. Incorporate purslane into a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. After several months of using purslane, recheck your cholesterol and you may notice an improvement in your HDL and LDL numbers.
