Cope With The Pain Of An Emg (Electromyography )

An electromyography test, also known as an EMG is nothing to be afraid of but there is a noticeable amount of pain involved. Here's how you can get through the test.

Instructions

1. Before the test, ask your doctor if something can be prescribed to calm your nerves. Much of the worry and pain of the test is caused by anticipation. If you are not the type to have an anxiety attack over the test, this step is definitely not necessary.

2. Remind yourself that the test is very short and is needed to diagnose a condition. The only way you can treat the condition is by taking this test.

3. During the test, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Concentrate on a happy thought. The thought could be your child's happy face or the first moment you held your child in your arms. It could even be that special place that you once vacationed or hope to visit. These thoughts will trigger endorphins which will make you naturally happy.

4. After the test is over, take a deep breath and congratulate yourself for not chickening out. Then go home and pour yourself a drink if you need it! There will be some soreness after the test but it will go away hopefully by the end of the day.
