Nutrisystem Diet Complaints

Small portions is a common Nutrisystem complaint.

Most likely if you are looking for a new diet plan to lose weight, you have heard of Nutrisystem. Nutrisystem is a diet plan that has pre-portioned healthy meals delivered to your home for a monthly service fee. Though their site is full of customers who have had positive results, some complaints are common in regards to the diet system; every consumer should be aware of shortcomings prior to signing up.

Monthly Expense

Though the Nutrisystem diet plan has been proven effective, it is difficult for individuals to afford in the long run. The meal plans can be expensive, and an individual can expect to spend up to $400 each month on food. For the average consumer, this is a heavy financial commitment.

Portion Sizes

Though the idea of portion control is what helps Nutrisystem dieters lose weight, it can be difficult for individuals to adjust to these smaller portion sizes. Most Nutrisystem meals are much smaller proportions than the average consumer is used to, and some consumers may not be satisfied after eating a meal.

Appetizing Meals

Fresh produce and freshly prepared foods are much more appetizing than pre-packaged foods. All Nutrisystem meals are pre-packaged and, therefore, can appear less appetizing than a meal prepared from scratch at home. Since the majority of these meals are frozen, there are complaints about the overall taste of the meals themselves.

Men's Meals Versus Women's Meals

The men's portions are considerably larger than the women's meals on the Nutrisystem plan. Though this is to account for the caloric intake differences between the two genders, it can be difficult for a couple or family using the Nutrisystem plan to have different meal portions to work with -- especially when consumers complain they are not satisfied after one meal.

Lack of Choices

At first glance the Nutrisystem diet has multiple meal choices, but they have to be ordered without tasting them first. After a few times, consumers realize which meals they enjoy and do not. At this point, many consumers complain they have limited choices when it comes to meal options.

Trips to the Grocery Store

Consumers still have to visit the grocery store for other items aside from their meals. This can cause temptations to purchase things other than what is on the Nutrisystem plan.
