Banish Negative Energy In A Room

A room's negative energy can weigh you down.

Negative energy can cling to a space and permeate it like a bad smell. If you find there is a room in your home where a lot of arguments have occurred, where you find spending too much time there is draining or leads to depressing thoughts or an increase in stress, it might be residual negative energy getting to you. If you want to restore balance and a positive vibe, you’ll need to banish it.

Instructions

1. Give the room a thorough physical cleaning. Negative energy can cling to things like dust, cobwebs and fabrics. Clear and organize the clutter; dust well, even down on the baseboards and around the door frames. If the room has a rug, take it out and beat it well. If it is carpeted, vacuum it several times; steam clean it if possible. Also vacuum any upholstered furniture and launder any fabrics like curtains, blankets and pillows.

2. Mix one gallon of hot water with one cup of kosher or sea salt. Stir so that the salt dissolves. As soon as it is warm enough to put your hand in, use clean rags to go over everything in the room. Wipe down the furniture, mop the floors and wipe down the walls. Use a sponge mop with a new sponge attached to go over the ceilings.

3. Light a self-igniting incense charcoal in a censer or heat-proof pot. Fume the room with cleansing incense, such as sandalwood, sage or frankincense. Sprinkle some raw incense on the coals every 15 minutes and allow the smoke to fill the room. Open the windows so that the smoke can escape. If you like, you can carry the incense around the room and fan it into every corner and closet and under the furniture.

4. Purify the area with the positive energy of the four sacred elements: earth, air, fire and water. On a table or on the floor in the middle of the room, place a bowl of salt for earth, your censer with a bit more incense for air, a lit candle in a candle holder for fire and a bowl of water for water.

5. Pick up the salt and, if possible, begin at a north-facing corner or wall of the room. Begin to sprinkle the salt as you walk around the room clockwise. Walk slowly. You don’t need to sprinkle a great deal of salt, just a little as you go along. Repeat with the censer, then the candle, and finally by sprinkling the water. The room should immediately feel “lighter,” and you’ll notice that you feel more relaxed and at peace in there.

6. Choose an object that has positive associations for you. This can be a crystal, a religious statue or picture, a potted plant or vase of flowers or any item that fills you with inspiration and peace when you look at it. Place it somewhere prominent in the room so that whenever you see it those feelings of peace and contentment will fill you again. This will help to retain the harmonious energies you have created.
