Specifications For A Philips Iu22 Ultrasound

The iU22 Ultrasound System is a medical scanner that uses ultrasound waves to examine the internal body structures, including tendons, joints, muscles, vessels and internal organs. The scanner has advanced quantification features and 3D views of scanned body structures. The iU22 Ultrasound System can be used in cerebrovascular, gynecological and musculoskeletal imaging.

PureWave Crystal Technology

The PureWave Crystal Technology lies at the heart of the iU22 Ultrasound System. It improves the properties of the ultrasound transducer, resulting in an improved system image quality. PureWave crystals replace a more than 40-year-old piezoelectric material, the PZT, or lead-zirconatetitanate, ceramics or PZT-composites. PureWave crystals are more uniform and purer than the conventional PZT ceramics.

Volume Imaging

Volume imaging allows the iU22 Ultrasound System to present 3D and 4D views of the scanned tissues. Volume imaging is achieved by Philips as a result of numerous innovations, including iSlice, a volumetric display that shows the tissue in multiple volumes, and Invert, a volume display method allowing the direct visualization of structures that don't produce echoes, such as the major vessels and the chambers of fetal hearts.

Tissue Aberration Correction

Tissue Aberration Correction allows the iU22 Ultrasound System to produce more detailed scans of the adipose tissue, or fat. Traditionally, it was assumed that sound travels through the adipose tissue at a speed of 1,540 meters per second. However, Philips researchers have found that the actual speed is closer to 1,450 meters per second. Accordingly, they have made improvements to the adipose tissue scanning of the U22 Ultrasound System.

Applications

Numerous applications exist for the iU22 Ultrasound System, including scanning of the vascular system, small parts, perinatology, pregnancy scanning, OB-GYN, breast scanning and general radiology scanning.
