Natural Tooth Pain Relief

Tooth pain is usually caused by tooth decay and inflammation. Toothache pain can be debilitating, but many people prefer to use natural methods to relieve the pain over pain-relieving medications. Natural remedies are available that may help eliminate the pain and reduce the inflammation of a toothache. Not every natural remedy works for everyone. Some experimentation is required to find the treatment that will work for you.

Reducing Inflammation

Reducing the inflammation surrounding the irritated tooth is the first step in relieving tooth pain. Onion and garlic are effective in reducing an inflammation. Chewing raw onion is enough to reduce the inflammation, but some people might find this distasteful. Placing a piece of onion on the affected tooth can also produce the same results.

Use garlic in the same way as the onion. A single clove of garlic with rock salt reduces the inflammation and eases the pain.

Warm salt-water rinses are also a way to treat inflammation caused by a tooth infection. The salt-water rinse may reduce pain immediately. Use this treatment as often as necessary to reduce the infection and keep the inflammation down.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate herbal remedies in the same way as prescription medications. Garlic has been used for thousands of years to treat inflammation and health issues.

Eliminating Bacteria

Bacteria in the mouth can lead to infection and inflammation. Herbal treatments can reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth, which leads to infection and pain. Wheat grass juice is an excellent herb for eliminating mouth bacteria and pain. Use wheat grass juice as a rinse or you can chew on wheat grass to remove the toxins from the gums and tooth area. This will eliminate the root cause of tooth pain.

Regularly brushing the teeth and flossing also eliminates bacteria from the mouth. Food left behind on the surface of the teeth quickly turns to bacteria and tooth decay.

Never use herbal remedies as a substitute for medical care. While these treatments may provide relief for your tooth pain, infection should be treated by your dental-care provider to prevent tooth loss.

Preventative Diet

Monitor the foods you eat to treat and prevent tooth pain. This natural approach to tooth care involves staying away from sugary foods and beverages such as candy and soda.

Refined, processed foods also allow food particles to stick to the teeth. This can cause tooth decay, leading to tooth pain. Avoid processed foods and eat whole grains and vegetables to keep the teeth clean between brushings.

Watching what you eat and keeping your mouth clean is the best approach to natural tooth-pain relief.
