Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). This type of drug is designed to decrease inflammation and pain ; some of the brands that are available for naproxen are Aleve, and by prescription, Anaprox or Naprocyn.

As with any drug, naproxen does have side effects. It can cause stomach or intestinal bleeding that can be very serious; seek medical attention if you begin to have chest pains, weakness, slurred speech, or shortness of breath.
