Remove The Sting From A Jellyfish

Learn remove the stinger and stinging sensation from a jellyfish.


Jellyfish stings can be bothersome or even deadly depending on the type of jellyfish by which you were stung. Removing the stingers and tentacles will greatly reduce the pain, as will applying basic first aid care to the wounded area. With specific knowledge about jellyfish sting treatment, you can be on your way to feeling better in just a few minutes. Instructions








1. Dip a T-shirt or towel in the ocean. Allow the towel or T-shirt to become completely saturated with seawater.


2. Wipe down the area where you were stung by the jellyfish using the towel or T-shirt. This will remove any tentacles and most of the stingers that remain in the area of the sting.


3. Pour vinegar on a clean cloth. The cloth should be saturated completely with the vinegar.


4. Rub shaving cream on the area of the sting and wait an hour for it to dry. Scrape of the shaving cream using the edge of a credit card. This will remove any stingers that you might have missed in Step 2.


5. Apply ice as often as possible to the area where you were stung. This will help ease the stinging sensation.
