A top-of-the-line massage table can cost hundreds of dollars. If you're a new massage therapist you may have a difficult time finding a table you can reasonably afford. Fortunately, there are quite a few places you can look to find massage therapy tables at a discount.
Massage School Bulletin Boards
Check your massage school's bulletin board for information about massage tables and equipment for sale. Students often run out and purchase the cheapest table they can find only to upgrade once they get their businesses up and running. They'll then turn around and sell their old table to another student in the same position. You may even find that your school is replacing their tables with new ones and selling the old ones at a discounted price.
Craigslist
Massage therapy isn't the right career choice for everyone and, sadly, some people don't realize that massage isn't right for them until well after they've graduated massage school and purchased all of the equipment. Others are simply retiring from the field. Check websites like Craigslist.org for discounted massage tables. You'll likely find at least one or two local people who want to get rid of their tables and recoup at least part of their original costs.
Massage Warehouse
Massage Warehouse is one of the most well-known massage supply companies in the industry. They sell massage tables of all varieties but you are likely to find something within your budget here as well. Massage Warehouse regularly sells starter packages for new massage therapists. These packages often include the table, head rest, bolsters, carry cases, full size oil and cream samples, and sometimes even sheets and massage music on CD.
School Partnerships
Ask your massage school administrative staff if the school has formed a partnership with a local or online supplier. You may find that your status as a student or graduate from your specific school will earn you discounted rates with local businesses, saving you a significant amount on the purchase of your table.
