Make A Microwave Pillow

A microwave pillow, also known as a rice bag or heat pack, is an alternative to electric heating pads or ice packs. Microwave pillows are designed to provide quick relief from aches, pain or simply to keep warm. The pillow is made with an inner pocket that can be filled with various fillings, including aroma therapeutic blends of herbal essences to calm both the body and mind. You can make your own microwave pillow with a few basic items around the home.

Instructions

1. Fold the piece cotton cloth in half along the short side. Sew the three sides of the fabric, leaving a small opening for the filling. Turn the fabric inside out when you are finished sewing.

2. Pour in the filler of rice or corn. Dry feed corn is said to be a suitable option, as it doesn't decay easily. Before filling the microwave pillow with corn, inspect the corn and remove debris such as husks or leaves.

3. Sew the opening of the microwave pillow by hand or a sewing machine. Sterilize and dry the corn by placing the finished microwave pillow on top of a paper towel and placing it in the microwave for 3 minutes.

4. Remove the microwave pillow and allow it to dry completely. Repeat the process until the paper towel shows no more moisture.
