Test For Vertigo

"Vertigo" is a medical term used to describe a serious feeling that the room around you is spinning even when it is not. It can lead to serious balance problems as well as headaches and nausea. Vertigo is different from general dizziness in that it is much more severe. Because of this, it is important to properly diagnose vertigo so that it can be treated. Take steps at home to determine whether you have vertigo.

Instructions

1. Determine whether you have any of the symptoms of vertigo. The most serious symptoms include a sensation that either you or the room are spinning, trouble balancing yourself while standing, and a general feeling of nausea as a direct result of the other symptoms.

2. Purchase a home ear infection test from a pharmacy. Having an ear infection can result in many of the same symptoms as vertigo. If your test comes up positive, your symptoms are a result of your ear infection. However, if your test comes up negative, you probably have vertigo.

3. Purchase a home hearing test from a pharmacy. General hearing problems can result in similar symptoms to vertigo, so it is important to rule out all possibilities before diagnosing yourself.

4. See a physician. Though you can become relatively sure you have vertigo, it is never a good idea to diagnose yourself. Vertigo is a serious condition that must be treated properly, so see a physician who will perform a number of definitive tests.
