Make Party Cups

Party cups are a fun and expected favor at most birthday parties and banquets. Make party cups for a mother/daughter tea party or a little girl's birthday, using common baking and decorating supplies. These ruffled crepe paper party cups are easy to make and can be crafted in an afternoon. The cups are the perfect size for small candies or nuts, which can be taken home as a special gift.

Instructions

1. Cut a 24-inch length of crepe paper streamer in the color of your choice. Hand sew a running stitch down the center of the streamer, with the stitches a 1/2-inch apart. Pull the thread to gather the streamer until it is 8-inches long. Knot and finish off the thread.

2. Apply a horizontal line of hot glue around the outside middle of the nut cup. Wrap the gathered crepe paper streamer around the nut cup, in the glue. The bottom, long edge of the streamer will be even with the bottom of the nut cup and the top long edge of the streamer will extend past the top of the nut cup.

3. Cut a 9-inch length of 1/2-inch wide ribbon. Apply a horizontal line of hot glue around the nut cup, over the stitch line of the gathered crepe paper. Wrap the ribbon around the cup, in the glue.

4. Cut a 9-inch length of pipe cleaner for the handle. Apply two dollops of hot glue to the inside bottom of the nut cup, on opposite edges of the circular bottom. Form the pipe cleaner into an arch and insert an end in each of the glue dollops. Hold the handle in place until the glue has cooled.

5. Choose which side will be the front of your party cup. Hot glue three, 1/2-inch diameter ribbon roses, in a cluster, to the front center of the cup, over the ribbon.

6. Cut a 12-inch length of 1/4-inch wide ribbon. Wrap the ribbon around the top of the handle and tie into a bow. Trim the ends. Place the cupcake liner in the party cup to hold candy or nuts, while keeping the cup clean.
