Make A Flaxseed Warming Bag

The moist heat of flaxseed is soothing on an achy neck.

Applying heat to a sore neck, achy back or a cramping stomach is often very soothing. Flaxseed warming bags are the perfect accessory to help ease these pains. Because flaxseed is a floral seed, it contains oil which helps the seeds retain heat. Grains, like rice, eventually dry out; they don't have the ability to maintain heat over time. Instead of buying a warming bag, take an afternoon and sew your own.

Instructions

1. Fold the napkin in half with right sides together.

2. Stitch around two sides of the napkin, leaving one short side unstitched. You now have a fabric tube.

3. Turn the tube right-side out. Iron the seams flat.

4. Fill the tube with flaxseed to two-thirds full. Do not fill it completely because the bag needs some flexibility. The seeds should move around inside the bag so that you can adjust it when applying it to different body parts. If you want an aromatherapy bag, add drops of essential oils to the bag.

5. Sew the open end of the tube with a blind stitch.
