Clear Hay Fever

Hay fever, which is also called allergic rhinitis, is a chronic condition caused by an allergic reaction to pollen. It results in symptoms similar to those of the common cold, such as itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose, sinus pressure and congestion. Many people end up taking prescription medications for hay fever, but there are a number of alternatives that you can also try to clear hay fever up without medicine.

Instructions

1. Take a shower every night before bed. Wash your body and your hair thoroughly. Hay fever is caused by pollen, and those tiny particles often cling to your clothes and body throughout the day. Washing them off before bed is a good way to make the night a time for recovery rather than exacerbating the problem.

2. Remain inside when possible. If you have chronic hay fever, the best solution may be to limit time outdoors during the season when you have the most trouble. This will usually help clear up your symptoms--at least until the next time you take a hike.

3. Soothe your eyes with a cool cloth. If you have watery eyes, then rinse them with cool, clear water and lay a clean cloth over them for about 10 minutes. This should help get rid of the allergens and clear up your eyes.

4. Sleep propped up on pillows. Congestion is a major issue when it comes to hay fever. Sleeping propped up can help you breathe more easily during the night and will enable you to wake refreshed rather than struggling to breathe all night.

5. Use a hepa filter to keep your home allergen-free. Hepa filters can be installed in nearly any air purifier and will help filter out pollen and other toxins so that your hay fever can start to clear at least while you are in your home.

6. Clear chest congestion with tonic oil. Tonic oil contains wintergreen, fennel, cinnamon and peppermint to help promote circulation. Rubbing it on the chest and upper back can help clear up congestion from hay fever.
