How Does Aloe Help Relieve Sunburns

Quick and Natural Sunburn Relief

After a bad sunburn the application of aloe vera gel can provide not only relief from the burn itself, but also create a powerful healing compound on the surface of the skin. This gel contains anti-inflammatory substances that work as well as the most potent anti-bacterial creams on the market. Applying aloe also relieves some of the pain following a burn. Aloe can be used by cutting open an individual leaf and rubbing the gel-like substance inside it directly to the burned area.

Aloe Vera Gel and Juice

The aloe vera gel causes a cooling effect on the burn, which soothes the area and reduces the damage to the sensitive tissues caused by the burn. Aloe gel evaporates due to its large amount of water, so it must be applied as often as needed. Not only can the gel itself be applied directly from the leaf, but aloe vera juice can work just as well for bad sunburns. Simply allow the burned area to be submerged in the juice if possible or splash some in your palm and apply it to the burn.

Enabling the Body's Immune System

Aloe vera juice is extremely nutritious and can be taken internally as a way to improve the immune system, thereby providing the body with a much faster healing ability in the case of a severe burn. It never hurts to practice sunburn treatment and prevention from the inside as well as from the outside. This can also help already existing burns to heal with less visible scarring.
