Remove A Tight Ring From A Finger With String

Rings get stuck on fingers for many reasons. Sometimes it is because the ring has not been removed in a while and the wearer has gained a little weight. Sometimes it is because of temporary water retention or pregnancy on the part of the wearer that plumps up the digit, preventing the ring from sliding off. Whatever the reason, when rings get stuck, try soap and water to slide it off first. If that does not work, enlist the help of some dental tape or fishing line and try this fairly easy method.

Instructions

1. Pull a few inches of the string between the ring and the wearer's finger. It may be difficult to thread the string under the ring, but it is possible, so keep trying.

2. Wrap the rest of the string tightly around the finger multiple times, moving from the ring over the knuckle and toward the nail. Each round of the string should be very close to the one before. You are trying to compress the flesh of the finger so that the ring can pass over it. The end of the finger will probably turn a little purple, because this does cut off circulation to an extent.

3. Press the end of the string against the finger near the nail. Firmly grasp the other end that you put under the ring.

4. Pull the string quickly and firmly toward the end of the finger, unwinding it from around the finger as you go. Make sure to use constant, strong tension on the string, and be sure to do this as fast as you can. You do not want to ring to stop moving, especially on the knuckle.

5. Pull until the ring reaches a smaller part of the finger and you can slide it off the finger easily. Make sure to unwrap the string from the finger as fast as possible to relieve any discomfort and to get the circulation going again.
