Start Taking Care Of A Heart







Staying heart healthy is a major concern these days since doctors have determined heart disease is the top killer among Americans. Changes in lifestyle, overconsumption of food and lack of exercise have helped contribute to this trend. But that doesn't mean people should succumb to the disease. Setting a few goals with your heart health as the priority can help keep your ticker in tip-top shape.

1. Exercise more. Exercise is key to keeping your heart healthy. Not only does it bump up your energy level, but it also can keep your cholesterol down and your heart working quite well. Remember the heart is a muscle, and just like the rest of our muscles, it needs to get a work out.








2. Eat right. A proper diet can start getting your heart in shape. Your heart is a well oiled machine that needs the proper tools to stay working well. Certain foods have the required nutrients and vitamins needed to ensure arteries are clog free. Stick to small amounts of red wine, nuts and dark chocolate that can be a beneficial part of your diet.


3. Staying hydrated is one of the best ways to start getting your heart healthy. Along with the right amount of vitamins and a healthy diet, water is needed for a balanced diet. Your body can function well when fully hydrated, helping your heart to pump at its full capacity.


4. Minimize how often you and your family eat out. When you do the cooking, you are completely in charge of what is put in your food. However, when you eat out, there is a minimal chance that you will find out what you're eating or how much fat is actually in your meal. If possible, limit the number of times you eat out each week or simply scan the menu for lighter meals.


5. Visit your family doctor or a specialist. This is a great way to make sure your ticker is still in good shape. Whether or not you suspect your heart health is in the best shape, it can't hurt to ask your doctor if there is a specialized health plan for you or your family based on lifestyle and family history.
