Side Effects Of Using Rogaine

Rogaine is a common hair regrowth treatment manufactured for both men and women. According to the manufacturer, McNeil-PPC, Inc., Rogaine can regrow hair in up to 85 percent of men and 60 percent of women who use it. Rogaine may cause several common side effects in both men and women. In addition, there are several rare, but serious, side effects that warrant a trip to a doctor.

Dry Scalp

Some users may experience a dry scalp that may itch or flake while using Rogaine, according to the manufacturer. This side effect should diminish once treatment is completed.

Scalp Irritation

In some instances, the manufacturer has noted scalp irritation in people using Rogaine. Scalp irritation is more common in men who use Rogaine solution as opposed to Rogaine foam.

Unwanted Facial Hair

In rare cases, some men and women using Rogaine may experience increased growth in facial hair, according to the manufacturer. The unwanted facial hair usually disappears once treatment stops.

Weight Gain or Swollen Feet and Hands

In very rare cases, Rogaine may cause a sudden increase in weight or swelling in the hands and feet. The manufacturer recommends stopping Rogaine treatment immediately and seeing a doctor if this occurs.

Chest Pain

Chest pain is also a very rare side effect of Rogaine, and like the side effect mentioned above, the manufacturer recommends stopping treatment and seeing a doctor if it occurs.
