Develop A Positive Selfimage

self-image

Self-image is how you perceive yourself which evolved over time based on your experiences in life. It can be either positive or negative and can have a tremendous impact on your success and happiness. Developing a positive self-image can be a tough challenge for most people but it is always possible. Here are things you can do to achieve that goal:

Instructions

1. Let go of self-defeating thoughts in your head. Make your mind your ally and not your enemy. Each time you think of demeaning thoughts about yourself, stop them right away. Train your mind to substitute positive thoughts over negative ones. Practicing this habit will build your self-image over time since you will think more of yourself as someone who is worthy and valuable rather someone insignificant.

2. Make a list of your assets. List down everything you have (physical and mental attributes) that make you feel good and refer to your list everyday and be thankful. Every person is unique and you have something in you that other people don't have. Be specific in your list and pay attention to how you feel when you write them down. You will be surprised how many things you have overlooked over the years that hold the key to building up your self-esteem.

3. Stop the habit of dwelling on past mistakes and failures. Give yourself a break by deciding to see the good things that happen today and acknowledge the blessings you get everyday. Doing this will affect your mood in a positive way and has a tremendous impact on your self-image.

4. Stay positive no matter what. Even if sometimes you are tempted to believe negative comments you hear from people about how you look, spoke, or acted, train yourself to interpret them in a positive light. The more you dwell in the positive side of things, the more you will see yourself transformed to the positive side.

5. Pamper yourself physically and emotionally. Take time to take care of your body by eating right, exercising, and getting plenty of rest. When you feel good about your body and how you look, it boosts your self-image. Likewise, develop your inner self by doing things that build you up intellectually and emotionally. You will not only know yourself better by doing them, you are also taking bold steps towards your goal of building up a positive self-image.

6. Give yourself time to heal and rebuild your self-image. Change doesn't happen overnight; it takes days, weeks, months and even years to see the results. Be patient and keep going. One day you will be surprised how much you have changed and how proud you are of your new self!
