Blend Camphor Essential Oil

Camphor oil comes from the camphorweed plant.

Blending camphor essential oils is an art form that takes years of practice to perfect. Professional oil blenders and perfume creators spend years mastering the techniques of scent blending. However, you can create a soothing camphor oil blend with other essential oils at home. There are several oils that blend well with camphor to create a pleasing scent with a soothing effect. Use camphor essential oil blends to ease tired muscles, as a moisturizer or to scent the skin.

Instructions

1. Mix camphor oil with basil, cajuput, melissa, lavender, orange blossom, frankincense or chamomile oil. Add in five drops of each kind of oil to test the scent before making larger batches.

2. Use the essential oils to test the scent before adding any carrier vegetable oil. Use a ratio of 30 percent top notes, which include orange blossom, basil, camphor and lavender; 50 percent middle notes, which includes chamomile and melissa; and 20 percent base notes which include frankincense and cajuput.

3. Mix all oils with one drop of essential oil per tablespoon of vegetable oil. This prevents the oil from a too-high concentration, which can damage skin. For a mixture of two types of oil of five drops each, you will need 10 tablespoons of vegetable oil as a base.

4. Mix the oils together using a wooden stirring stick. You can also place the oils in a sealed container and shake them to blend.
