What Supplement Helps The Liver

Dandelion root and other supplements can help heal your liver.

Your liver is one of the most important organs in your body. It filters out the toxins you ingest over your lifetime and creates nutrients vital to your well-being. You can boost liver health (or repair a damaged liver) by including supplements in a well-balanced diet.

Dandelion

Dandelion promotes the flow of bile and helps detoxify the liver. Bile from your gall bladder and bile ducts assists your liver and your digestive system. Tea made from fresh dandelion roots or dandelion root capsules are both good sources.

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle has long been used to cleanse the liver and boost liver function, and even repair and regenerate a cirrhotic liver in some cases. Take 200 to 400 milligrams of milk thistle twice daily to achieve the greatest benefit.

Turmeric

Also known to reduce the pain of arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric acts positively on the liver as an antioxidant, antimicrobial, and analgesic detoxifier. If you have gallstones or obstructed bile ducts, do not use turmeric.

Beet Root

Drinking one cup of raw beet root juice in the morning once every few days can help detoxify your liver and stimulate function and repair. The leaves of beets also have healing properties.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid is both water-soluble and fat-soluble and is an excellent antioxidant. ALA fights the potential damage caused by free radicals in the liver. Take an ALA capsule on an empty stomach for best results.
