Make Your Shoulders Appear Narrow

V-neck shirts suit broad-shouldered women.

Women with broad shoulders and narrower hips are described as having an "apple" or "inverted triangle" body type. Women with other builds often envy the inverted triangle's long, slender legs, but the triangles themselves sometimes wish they had the classic "hourglass" figure. Women can balance their top and bottom halves and give the illusion of narrow shoulders in proportion with their hips by choosing clothes that draw attention away from the necklines and toward their slender waists and legs.

Instructions

1. Wear V-neck or scoop neck shirts, particularly if you have a larger bust. If you have a smaller bust, wear fitted button-down shirts and leave the top few buttons undone. Wear wide straps instead of spaghetti straps, which emphasize the width of your shoulders.

2. Lengthen the appearance of your torso by wearing long shirts, blouses with vertical stripes, and three-quarter-length sleeves.. This draws the eye to your vertical shape and away from your horizontal elements, including your shoulders.

3. Emphasize your waist by wearing wide belts or wrap shirts. This distracts the eye from your upper half.

4. Balance wide shoulders with boot-cut jeans, A-line skirts or pants that have pockets at the hips. These styles widen your lower half to make it more proportional to your upper half. If you are tall, wear flared pants.
